There are more than 90 Lodges and more than 6,000 Masons in South Dakota. Each of these Masons lives by the basic principles of our gentle craft: Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. Or said another way: Masons are tolerant, charitable and sincere. By adhering to these basic principles we as Masons believe that by first improving ourselves we can then help improve our Brothers (that’s what we call each other,) our communities and the world. It has been said that Freemasonry helps good men become better men. That sounds too simple, but that’s because it is that simple. The man that recognizes that there is great good and great evil within us all but still works to develop the good and overcome the evil in himself can accomplish great things for all mankind.
